Jim Briggs is a musician and singer/songwriter, playing in the folk, Americana and outlaw country genres. He cites Dwight Yoakam, Jim Croce, Colin Hay, and Johnny Cash as influences.

In addition to his solo work, Jim is a member of the Irish/Americana band “Shades of Green(Apple Music / Spotify).  He was a founding member of the 70s-80s One-Hit-Wonder tribute band “Wonderland” and a supporting player for the alt-rock band “The Nerve”.  These days, he specializes in acoustic country, Americana, and folk music, with maybe a little rock and roll from time to time.

Am watching all James Bond films in order, and am amazed at how much of a leap there was to Casino Royale. None of the preceding films even comes close. I’ve read that the Bourne Legacy film’s success helped them find the tone. Anyway, probably the best #JamesBond film of them all.

Bananas don't grow on trees? Hey, that's a tree problem, not a me problem. I've seen bananas growing, and I know what I saw. Bad enough I can't tell what pass interference in the NFL is anymore, but don't tell me I don't know a tree when I see one. #bananatree #bananas

Music Notes

About the song: The Fugitive

There’s one thing that The Fugitive has in common with other songs I wrote around the same time is that the title of the song doesn’t actually appear in the song. As a music listener, I hate when people do that. I mean, if I mentioned the songs Funk #49, Rainy Day...

About the new name

For the small number of avid fans who will actually note the change, the “Journeyman James” era has begun. I have been interested in putting more of my music onto the streaming services (where I have raked in over $1.19 in royalties to date!) and have been struggling...

Guitar after a broken wrist

A few thoughts about my return to playing after distal radius and ulnar styloid fracture and Colles' Fracture surgery. A few years ago, I experienced a broken wrist in a high-speed cycling crash. I had surgery on the wrist and went through occupational therapy, and...

Weeping Demon repair

By popular demand (OK, one person asked me about it recently), here's an old post about my (then) recent repair of an Ibanez Weeping Demon Wah pedal (which conked out during an otherwise slammin‘ performance by Shades of Green). After our lead guitarist...

Bronco Bass Pickup Upgrade

Stock Bronco Bass So, I've got a Squire Bronco Bass and I think it was well bought ($150 at Guitar Center). Though it seems strangely light, it's well-balanced, and the neck has a good feel. The only real problem with it is that it is noisy. The tone is just fine when...
